Hwaseong City Hall Fencing Team Wins Bronze Medal in Men's Foil Team Event at 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games

Yun Jung-hyun, Lee Gwang-hyun, and Im Chul-woo, members of the Hwaseong Special City Hall fencing team, added a bronze medal for the Republic of Korea in the men's foil team event at the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games fencing competition.

The Republic of Korea men's foil national team, comprising Yun Jung-hyun, Lee Gwang-hyun, and Im Chul-woo (Hwaseong Special City Hall) and Kim Tae-hwan (Chungcheongnam-do Sports Council), won the bronze medal in the men's foil team event held on the 25th at Aichi Sky Expo in Japan.

In the quarterfinals of the team event, the national team faced Taiwan and trailed 10-15 in the early stages but achieved a comeback victory of 45-37 with strong performances by Im Chul-woo and Lee Gwang-hyun, advancing to the semifinals. In the semifinals against Hong Kong, the score gap widened in the early stages, but Yun Jung-hyun set up a foundation for a comeback in the middle of the match, and Lee Gwang-hyun, the final competitor, successfully scored consecutively to narrow the score from 28-40 to 41-43. The national team finished with a final score of 41-45, confirming the bronze medal.

Hwaseong Special City announced that the Hwaseong Special City Hall fencing team, which produced three of the four male foil national representatives, reaffirmed its position as a core force in South Korea's men's fencing through this competition.

Yun Jung-hyun added a bronze medal in the team event following the bronze medal in the men's foil individual event held on the 22nd, earning two medals at this competition. After completing his mandatory military service with the Armed Forces Athletic Corps, Yun Jung-hyun returned to Hwaseong Special City Hall and stood on the podium in both the individual and team events at his first Asian Games.
