Icheon City Launches Full-Scale Odor Reduction Project at Icheon Wastewater Treatment Plant

[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Eom In-yong] Icheon City announced on the 18th that it held an interim report meeting on odor reduction at Icheon Wastewater Treatment Plant and is launching the project in earnest.

The city is providing idle land within Icheon Wastewater Treatment Plant to Taesung Environmental Research Institute Co., Ltd. for biomethanol research until the end of this year. Taesung Environmental Research Institute Co., Ltd. is conducting consulting to provide optimal management methods for odor through process diagnosis and odor prevention facility diagnosis.

Accordingly, the city is announcing and implementing ▲facility overview and general status ▲odor generation trends through process-specific odor sample collection (313 times) ▲odor prevention facility efficiency analysis results ▲odor dispersion modeling results for generated odors ▲necessary improvements in processes and odor prevention facilities ▲improvement plans and future plans, among others.

Meanwhile, based on the interim report meeting and citizen complaints heard, the city plans to derive odor reduction plan results by the first half of this year and proceed with facility improvement projects. Odor reduction that citizens can perceive is expected to be achieved through systematic analysis and consulting based on result values.

Through close collaboration with this odor-specialized consulting company, we will make efforts to achieve odor reduction that citizens can feel."
