Suwon Mayor Lee Jae-jun: "Suwon Hwaseong Culture Festival with 63-Year History Has Full Potential to Become Global Festival"

Suwon Mayor Lee Jae-jun emphasized that "the Suwon Hwaseong Culture Festival with its 63-year history has sufficient potential to develop into a global festival."

Presiding over the '2026 Suwon Hwaseong Three Major Festivals Implementation Plan Report Meeting' held in the conference room of City Hall on the 15th, Mayor Lee said, "Festivals that continue steadily for more than 60 years are rare," and added, "We will industrialize Suwon's excellent tourism content such as the Suwon Hwaseong Culture Festival and the Royal Procession Reenactment of King Jeongjo, and develop it into a global festival."

At the report meeting, inter-departmental cooperation systems were reviewed for effective operation of the three Suwon Hwaseong festivals: the 63rd Suwon Hwaseong Culture Festival, the Royal Procession of King Jeongjo, and the Suwon Hwaseong Media Art. Attendees included Suwon Mayor Lee Jae-jun, First Vice Mayor Kim Hyun-soo, Second Vice Mayor Lee Dong-gi, heads of relevant departments, and heads of cooperative organizations.

Mayor Lee requested, "Please conduct preliminary safety inspections repeatedly and meticulously so that visitors can safely enjoy the three festivals."

The 63rd Suwon Hwaseong Culture Festival will be held from October 4th to 11th at Haenggung Plaza, Hwaseong Haenggung Palace, Banghwa Suryujeong, Yong-yeon, and Yeonmudae throughout the Suwon Hwaseong area. This year's Suwon Hwaseong Culture Festival, themed 'Saebit Hongmin,' will operate programs including Suwon Fantasy 'Yajo,' Water Performance 'Seon-yu Mong,' 'Haenggung Night Stories,' Citizens' Great Architecture 'Hwahong,' and Suwon Gama Race.

The joint reenactment of the Royal Procession of King Jeongjo will be held on October 4th. Beginning from Noseong-jidae, it will pass through Suwon Sports Complex and Jangan Gate, concluding at Haenggung Plaza. It will be conducted as the Suwon Hwaseong Parade with citizen participation and the reenactment procession of Eulmyo Royal Journey.

Suwon Hwaseong Media Art is a nighttime content festival that reinterprets Suwon's historical spaces through light and technology. Themed 'Saebit Tonglak (同樂): Suwon Hwaseong (華城), Blooming with Light' Season 1 'A Visitor I Welcome (我有嘉賓),' it will be held from September 19th to October 6th at Hwaseo Gate, Jangan Gate, and Jangan Park area.
