The Ingye-dong Residents' Autonomy Committee (Chairman Song Ki-nam) announced on the 20th that it jointly held a one-day tea café event with the Ingye-dong Group Council on the 17th.
The event, held to practice warmth and sharing with those in need, was attended by approximately 300 guests and residents, serving as an opportunity to put true sharing into practice.
Additionally, Jinbu-myeon, Pyeongchang-gun in Gangwon Province, Ingye-dong's sister city, operated a 'direct agricultural products market' at the one-day tea café venue to promote and sell superior local agricultural and specialty products. By selling Jinbu-myeon's quality agricultural products at prices lower than market rates, the initiative eased consumers' burden in preparing for Lunar New Year ancestral rites and gift purchases.
Im Yong-chae, head of Ingye-dong, said, "Although it is just one day of volunteer service, I believe this will become a catalyst that makes 2013 a year full of love," and added, "I am grateful to the organization leaders and members who participated as volunteers despite their busy schedules."
Funds collected from this one-day tea café will be used for vulnerable residents in the district, including children and youth heads of household and elderly living alone.
