'Osan Station Transfer Center' Gathers Public Opinion, Construction to Begin in First Half of This Year

Osan City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Kwak Sang-wook) announced on the 20th that it will gather public opinion on the construction of Osan Station Transfer Center, a key project for the city, and reflect it in the establishment.

The Osan Station Transfer Center, which will begin construction around May, will be Korea's first transfer center built on railroad tracks and is planned to be constructed as a one-stop connection system linking intercity, express buses, trains, subways, taxis, and more.

Osan City is gathering public opinion with the policy of building a transfer center that citizens expect and hope for the construction of Osan Station Transfer Center, which will lead the development of Osan Station area and the development of Osan, so that it becomes a new landmark for the city.

The Osan Station Transfer Center will invest a total project cost of 36 billion won, including national and provincial funds, and is being carried out with a target completion date in the first half of 2017, with a land area of 21,880㎡ and a total building area (waiting hall) of 2,762㎡ in the current Osan Station plaza area.

Osan City concluded a mutual cooperation business agreement with the Korea Railroad Facility Corporation regarding 'Osan Station Transfer Center Construction' in December of last year, and plans to conclude a consignment construction agreement with Korea Railroad Corporation in March.

A city official stated, "As the construction of Osan Station Transfer Center provides a clue to solve the 'bus terminal reconstruction project' that has been neglected so far, it is expected that the terminal reconstruction issue will be resolved simultaneously," and added, "We will do our best to ensure that the transfer center construction, a long-cherished project of Osan City residents, can proceed successfully by incorporating the valuable opinions of citizens in the establishment of the transfer center."
