Yongin City Selects 7 Outstanding Proactive Administration Cases in Second Half of 2024
\r\n[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Choi Ki-ho] A case of connecting CCTV installed in underground passages and tunnels within Yongin Special City to the city's smart city integrated platform to improve blind spots in the control system received the highest score for proactive administration excellence cases in the second half of this year.
\r\n\r\nYongin City held the third Proactive Administration Committee meeting of 2024 in the video conference room of City Hall on the 29th of last month and announced on the 1st that it selected 7 outstanding proactive administration cases that can lead the city's development by demonstrating creativity and expertise for the public interest and improving unreasonable regulations.
\r\n\r\nThese 7 cases were among 10 cases that passed the first screening and became subjects of public voting from 50 proactive administration excellence cases received this year.
\r\n\r\nAs a result of the screening, the Department of 4th Industrial Convergence's 'Eliminating Safety Blind Spots in Tunnels and Underground Passages Through CCTV!' ranked first.
\r\n\r\nThe city previously built a smart integrated platform in 2019 by linking 11,778 CCTVs for various purposes including crime prevention, disaster response, traffic information, and illegal parking enforcement to enable continuous monitoring from the city's Disaster Safety Situation Room.
\r\n\r\nCommittee members gave high evaluations to the fact that the connected video footage is shared with related agencies such as police, fire services, and military units to enhance citizen safety in the event of accidents in tunnels or underground passages, and that the establishment of the connection network achieved cost savings of approximately 1.6 billion won compared to when the city installed separate CCTVs at 39 locations.
\r\n\r\nSecond place was awarded to the Department of Water Administration's 'Smart Water Bill Notification and Leak Risk Alert Service.'
\r\n\r\nThe city provided water bill notifications that were previously sent via text message through KakaoTalk notification service, allowing citizens to conveniently check and pay bills, and through this reduced the message transmission cost from 25 won to 5 won per message, saving 2 million won annually.
\r\n\r\nThird place went to the Department of People's Livelihood and Economy for 'Securing Approximately 6 Billion Won in National Funding for Parking Environment Improvement in Gugal Commercial District.'
\r\n\r\nThe city decided to create a public parking lot to resolve parking shortages in the Gugal commercial district in Gugal-dong, Giheung-gu, and as a result of actively pursuing government grant programs to find funding solutions, it was selected as a target site for the Small and Medium Venture Business Department's '2025 Traditional Market and Commercial District Parking Environment Improvement Project' in January.
\r\n\r\nThe city plans to invest a total of 15 billion won including national and city funding to build a public parking lot capable of parking 145 vehicles under Gwangok Neighborhood Park near the commercial district.
