[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Eom In-yong] Namyangju City Corporation (President Lee Gye-mun) announced on the 31st that it has successfully completed its first-half "On-Site Sign Language Classes" aimed at lowering communication barriers with the hearing-impaired, improving disability awareness, and promoting an inclusive culture, concluding with training at the Pyeongnaе Sports and Culture Center.

The training was conducted by inviting Han Jeong-hoon, a professional instructor from the Namyangju City Sign Language Interpretation Center. Beginning on the 25th at the Children's Vision Center, the program was held over three sessions across the Namyangju Youth Training Center and Pyeongnaе Sports and Culture Center, with approximately 130 corporation employees completing the training, including those working at information desks and environmental maintenance staff stationed closest to customers.

In particular, the training satisfaction survey recorded 4.6 points out of 5, receiving strong positive feedback from employees.

The sign language education curriculum was structured to be immediately applicable in the field, covering △etiquette for the hearing-impaired △learning sign language fingerspelling △basic sign language expressions and practical training for responding to civil complaints. By combining hands-on sign language practice training with theoretical instruction, the program heightened employee interest and encouraged active participation.

Additionally, the corporation implemented supplementary customer service (CS) quality improvement training in connection with this program. By conducting in-depth analysis of major civil complaint cases and sharing practical improvement measures, the corporation provided an opportunity to elevate the customer response capabilities of field staff to the next level.

Meanwhile, the corporation plans to produce educational content as short-form videos in the second half and post them on the corporation's official YouTube channel, thereby creating an environment where not only employees but also all citizens can continuously learn sign language anytime and anywhere.

President Lee Gye-mun stated, "Helping approximately 10,000 hearing-impaired citizens living in Namyangju City use our facilities without inconvenience is a basic competency that a public institution must have," and added, "I hope this training becomes an opportunity to increase service satisfaction for customers with disabilities and help employees gain confidence in communication."
