Plans Agreed Upon for Hwangguji Stream Park and Children's Science Museum Construction

Hwaseong Special City (Mayor Jung Myeong-geun) held a party-government consultative meeting with the Democratic Party's Hwaseong District B Regional Committee (Chair Rep. Kwon Chil-seung) at the National Assembly Building on the 13th to discuss implementation strategies for major regional issues.
Rep. Kwon Chil-seung stated, "I appreciate Mayor Jung and the officials of Hwaseong City for coming to the National Assembly to discuss regional issues," and added, "The Hwaseong District B Regional Committee and Hwaseong Special City will work closely together to plan policies that can bring happiness to all citizens and implement them substantively."
The agenda item of "creating a waterfront space along Hwangguji Stream" discussed at the meeting is currently in the process of coordinating with relevant agencies to expand the waterfront district from the existing 0.4 kilometers to 2.2 kilometers. After the final designation of the waterfront district in December this year, specific management and utilization plans will be prepared.
Regarding the agenda of "installation of a swimming pool as a resident convenience facility at the Gibae-dong Wastewater Treatment Plant," as residents have continuously requested the installation of a swimming pool, discussions were held on the feasibility of project implementation through city funds and securing financial resources given the difficulty in receiving national budget support.
The agenda of "construction of Hwaseong Thematic (Children's) Science Museum" plans to be built in the Byeongjeom-dong 899 area with a total floor area of 9,000 square meters. Construction is scheduled to begin in March 2027, with exhibition content production and installation to be completed and the facility to open in December 2028.
The agenda of "construction of a medium-sized performance hall in the Cultural Arts Town" plans to create a performance venue using the idle site of the former Agricultural and Fisheries College. Currently, a feasibility study is underway, and plans to expand the project scale are also being reviewed.
Hwaseong Special City Mayor Jung Myeong-geun said, "In addition to the agenda items discussed today, I will pay close attention to other issues in District B and work to ensure that citizens can feel the results in practice by communicating with the regional committee and doing my best to promote projects."
