The Korea Meteorological Administration announced that as cold air surges strongly from the northwest and temperatures drop significantly across inland areas, it issued the first cold wave warning of the fall season at 9 p.m. on the 21st for multiple regions nationwide, including parts of Seoul, Gyeonggi, Gangwon, Chungcheong, North Jeolla, and inland areas of Yeongnam.
The morning low temperature on the 22nd is expected to range from 0 to 10°C, which is 5-10°C lower than the previous day (10-19°C), with some inland areas dropping 12°C or more. In particular, northeastern Gyeonggi Province and inland and mountainous areas of Gangwon Province are expected to experience morning temperatures dropping below freezing (-1 to 0°C), with frost and ice forming in some areas.
Morning lows in major cities are: ▲Seoul 5°C ▲Incheon 6°C ▲Suwon 4°C ▲Chuncheon 2°C ▲Gangneung 7°C ▲Daejeon 3°C ▲Daegu 5°C ▲Gwangju 6°C ▲Busan 9°C. Afternoon highs are forecast at 14-19°C, but with strong winds, the actual feel temperature is expected to be lower.
The Korea Meteorological Administration forecasts that this cold spell will continue through the morning of Friday, the 23rd, but from midday as cold air retreats, temperatures will gradually return to seasonal norms.

"Prepare for sudden temperature drops like this"
Sudden temperature drops require special attention to health management, prevention of crop damage, and traffic safety.
• Health and Body Temperature Management (Layered Dressing)Wearing multiple thin layers is more effective for maintaining warmth than wearing one thick piece of clothing. As sudden exposure to cold air can cause blood vessels to constrict, those with cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases and elderly people should refrain from outdoor exercise in the morning and wrap their neck and hands warmly with scarves or gloves when going outside.
• Prevention of Crop Cold and Frost DamageIn areas where morning temperatures drop below freezing or frost occurs, such as eastern Gyeonggi, Gangwon, North Chungcheong, and inland areas of North Gyeongsang Province, immediate measures are necessary, such as covering crops during harvest with insulating covers or conducting advance inspections of heating facilities to prevent cold damage.
• Safe Driving and Caution Against Road Black IceInland mountain roads, bridges, tunnel entrances and exits, and shaded roads face a high risk of black ice forming as dew or frost from overnight rapidly freezes. Drivers should reduce speed and maintain sufficient safety distance.
