On October 4, as the reenactment of King Jeongjo's royal procession passes through Suwon's downtown, major roads will be subject to vehicle control by time slot. With the 63rd Suwon Hwaseong Culture Festival also opening the same day, many citizens and tourists are expected to flock to the Suwon Hwaseong area, requiring particular attention to vehicle traffic.

According to the Suwon Culture Foundation and Suwon City, traffic control on that day will proceed section-by-section and time-slot by time-slot from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Vehicle traffic on major roads from Noseong Forest Strip through Suwon General Stadium, Jangan Gate, to Haengung Plaza and the areas around Jungdong Intersection and Changryong Gate will be restricted.

'Relay' Traffic Control Beginning in the Morning

The first control begins in the morning. ▲The section from Noseong Forest Strip to SK Solbat Gas Station will have vehicle traffic restricted from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. ▲Subsequently, the SK Solbat Gas Station to Manseok Park Intersection section is controlled from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m., ▲and the Manseok Park Intersection to Suwon General Stadium South Gate section is controlled from 2 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. in sequence.

King Jeongjo's royal procession's Suwon Section 1 departs from Noseong Forest Strip and continues to Suwon General Stadium. Since road control is implemented in phases in accordance with the movement of the procession, vehicles using this section during the relevant time slots should take alternate routes.

In the afternoon, traffic control around Suwon Hwaseong intensifies. ▲The Wolgye Intersection to Jangan Gate section and the Hwaseo Gate to Jangan Gate to Hwahong Gate Public Parking Lot section will have vehicle traffic restricted from 1:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Afternoon Focus on Control Around Suwon Hwaseong

▲The Jangan Gate to Haengung Plaza section is controlled from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Vehicle traffic is also restricted in the Paldal Gate to Haengung Plaza to Paldal District Office Three-way Intersection section during the same time period.

▲The Haengung Plaza to Jungdong Intersection and Changryong Gate section is controlled from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. ▲The Changryong Gate to Haengung Plaza section operates with one traffic lane in both directions from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. The Haengung Plaza to Jungdong Intersection section is also reduced to one lane during the same time period.

■ Major Traffic Control on October 4

▲Noseong Forest Strip to SK Solbat Gas Station: 9 a.m.~1:30 p.m. ▲SK Solbat Gas Station to Manseok Park Intersection: 1~2 p.m. ▲Manseok Park Intersection to Suwon General Stadium South Gate: 2~2:30 p.m. ▲Wolgye Intersection to Jangan Gate: 1:30 p.m.~6:30 p.m. ▲Hwaseo Gate to Jangan Gate to Hwahong Gate Public Parking Lot: 1:30 p.m.~6:30 p.m. ▲Jangan Gate to Haengung Plaza: 2~8 p.m. ▲Paldal Gate to Haengung Plaza to Paldal District Office Three-way Intersection: 2~8 p.m. ▲Haengung Plaza to Jungdong Intersection and Changryong Gate: 4~8 p.m.

King Jeongjo's royal procession will begin the Suwon Hwaseong Parade from Suwon General Stadium at 3:30 p.m. The parade passes through Jangan Gate and continues to Haengung Plaza, with the main procession also proceeding in the same section.

As a result, during afternoon hours, roads around Suwon Hwaseong are expected to experience traffic congestion as vehicles heading to the event venue intermingle with regular traffic.

Buses Also Rerouted..."Please Use Public Transportation"

Buses operating on the controlled sections are also affected. The Suwon Culture Foundation announces that public transportation operating on controlled sections will be rerouted, and traffic control times and bus operations may change depending on the procession movement situation. Citizens should check operation information before using buses.

Suwon City plans to establish a traffic and safety cooperation system with police and related agencies and will provide guidance on control at major intersections and alternate routes. Prior to the event, the city plans to announce the controlled sections and times through the Suwon City website, social media, and road electronic billboards.

This year's Gyeonggi Province section of King Jeongjo's royal procession covers a total of 12.1㎞, including 5.3㎞ in Anyang and 6.8㎞ in Suwon. The Suwon section is divided into 4.5㎞ from Noseong Forest Strip to Suwon General Stadium and 2.3㎞ from Suwon General Stadium through Jangan Gate to Haengung Plaza.

The Suwon Hwaseong Culture Festival also runs from the 4th to the 11th in the Suwon Hwaseong area, so traffic congestion around Haengung Plaza and Hwaseong Haengung Palace may continue during the festival period. For citizens visiting Suwon Hwaseong and the Haengung Plaza area, it is necessary to check the traffic control times and sections of the roads they will be using before checking event programs.

If using vehicles, it is advisable to travel before control begins or use alternate roads. If visiting the festival venue, using public transportation as much as possible will help reduce traffic congestion.

On October 4, King Jeongjo's procession will pass through Suwon's downtown once again. For citizens heading down that path, how to move is as important weekend information as what to see and where to see it.
