Suwon's 'Haenggung-dong Regional Coexistence Zone' Selected as Outstanding Pro-Active Administration Initiative

In Suwon City's 2026 second-half Pro-Active Administration Excellence Competition, "South Korea's First! Establishing a Coexistence Operating System to Protect Commercial Areas Beyond the Designation of Haenggung-dong Regional Coexistence Zone" was selected as the most outstanding case.
Haenggung-dong, selected as the most outstanding, is recognized as a representative example after the Haenggung-dong (Suwon Haengridan-gil) area was designated as South Korea's first "Regional Coexistence Zone" in January this year.
After the Suwon Urban Foundation and the Regional Coexistence Council formed a promotion planning group, they visited Haengridan-gil shops over more than two years to persuade them to "agree to the designation as a Regional Coexistence Zone," and exceeded the requirements for statutory agreement.
On the 15th, Suwon City held the 6th Pro-Active Administration Committee at the municipal office's main conference room and selected five outstanding cases from Suwon City and two outstanding cases from collaborative organizations.
Prize money is awarded to departments selected as outstanding pro-active administration cases, with amounts of 2.5 million won for most outstanding, 1 million won for excellent, 700,000 won for commendable, and 400,000 won for effort cases. Collaborative organizations receive commendations from the Suwon City Mayor. Twelve outstanding pro-active civil servants were also selected. Incentives including the highest performance bonus grade, achievement bonus points, certificates, and commendation leave are provided.
The excellent award went to "Creating the 'Path to Recovery' Between Hospital and Home," a case of establishing and operating transitional housing for short-term recovery of discharged hospital patients.
The commendable award went to "Attracting Global Discount Benefits Without Budget!" a case of establishing overseas payment infrastructure for foreign tourists. The effort award went to "'Properly' Rather Than 'Frequently,' From Simple Delivery to Regional Security Services," a case where police deliver women's safety packages linked to local crime prevention, and "Can't We See and Apply All in One Place? Saebit Learning, Suwon City's Integrated Lifelong Learning Platform," a case of building a platform where the city's lifelong learning programs can be viewed, applied for, and paid for in a one-stop manner.
For collaborative organizations, the Suwon Urban Corporation's "South Korea's First Small-Scale Funeral Home Smart Operation" was selected as most outstanding, and the Suwon Youth and Young Adult Foundation's "South Korea's First, Integrated Registration of Online Criminal Record Inquiry System at Foundation Level" was selected as excellent.
The preliminary judges consisting of experts and civil servants and online preference voting scores were combined to select cases advancing to the final review. On this day, each department presented its outstanding cases, and the Pro-Active Administration Committee conducted a second review.
