Citizens Show Keen Interest in Open Library at Uwahgwan Outdoor Courtyard

Suwon Special Status City (Mayor Lee Jae-jun) concluded its outdoor library operations held from the 16th to 18th for three days at the outer courtyard of Uwahgwan of Hwaseong Haenggung and the park next to the Municipal Art Museum, creating a reading culture space that allows citizens to become closer to books in their daily lives and enjoy both reading and leisure together.
The open reading culture space featured diverse areas including a reading zone, performance zone, experience zone, play zone, and flea market, allowing citizens to visit and enjoy them directly. The reading zone was equipped with approximately 2,000 books as well as bean bags and camping chairs, enabling visitors to read books freely and take a rest.
"Booknic sets" were available for rental, and library membership registration and book lending services were also provided so that citizens could conveniently use library services even outdoors. In the stage zone, author Kim Shin-ji's book talk on "Seasonal Happiness," busking performances, bubble magic, and trumpet performances took place.
A Suwon City official said, "Through the operation of the outdoor library, we have confirmed the potential of a new reading culture space where citizens can naturally come into contact with books and culture in their everyday lives, transcending the spatial boundaries of the library."
