The 'First Hwaseong Special City Mayor's Cup National Badminton Tournament for People with Disabilities' was held on the 24th at the Hwaseong Indoor Badminton Hall.

Approximately 350 athletes and officials from across the nation participated, displaying their refined skills in heated competition.

Matches were conducted according to disability type and competition level. The wheelchair division was organized as four-player matches, while the integrated physical disability and intellectual disability B divisions were operated as doubles matches.

In particular, the hearing impairment integration and intellectual disability A divisions held special significance by conducting "Harmony Mixed Doubles" where people with disabilities and people without disabilities formed teams together.

At the opening ceremony, Chae Min-woo, Director of Education and Sports at Hwaseong Special City, encouraged the athletes and delivered remarks on behalf of Hwaseong Special City Mayor Jeong Myeong-geun. The opening ceremony proceeded with commendations for sports excellence, remarks and congratulatory addresses, an opening declaration, and the athlete's oath.

Mayor Jeong Myeong-geun stated in his remarks, "Sports has the power to go beyond winning and losing, to challenge one's own possibilities, to support each other's passion, and to share the joy of coming together. I hope this becomes a place where everyone displays their refined skills freely, and where people with and without disabilities understand each other and share friendship."

Meanwhile, Hwaseong Special City is making full preparations as the main host city for the 47th National Sports Games for People with Disabilities in 2027.
