Hwaseong City Introduces Two 'Morning Walk' Rehabilitation Robots

Hwaseong Special City (Mayor Jeong Myeong-geun) has been selected for the final round of the Korea Robot Industry Promotion Agency's "2026 Service Robot Demonstration Project Support Project 2nd Call for Proposals," and has introduced a total of two 'Morning Walk' walking rehabilitation robots—one each at two welfare centers in the city.
With the 350 million won in national budget secured through the project selection, Hwaseong City invested a total project budget of 700 million won including city funds to install one 'Morning Walk' rehabilitation robot each at Hwaseong Ardim Welfare Center and Hwaseong Daedan Ardim Welfare Center.
'Morning Walk' is a rehabilitation robot that supports rehabilitation training tailored to physical condition and walking ability. With various functions including adjustable stride and speed control, more precise rehabilitation services can be provided. In particular, it is applicable to various disease groups including cerebral palsy.
Since 2019, when the two welfare centers were the first in the nation to introduce lower limb rehabilitation robots, they have continuously expanded their offerings to include walking and upper limb rehabilitation robots as well as home rehabilitation equipment.
Additionally, on the 27th, a 'Robotic Race' was held at the gymnasium on the 4th floor of Hwaseong Daedan Ardim Welfare Center, with a total of 150 participants including athletes, officials, and local residents from six disability welfare centers in Gyeonggi Province.
The city plans to expand opportunities for people with disabilities to utilize cutting-edge technology based on the introduction of rehabilitation robots and participatory events, and to integrate artificial intelligence (AI) and robot technology into the welfare field.
Hwaseong Special City Mayor Jeong Myeong-geun stated, "The foundation for people with disabilities to receive rehabilitation training suited to their physical condition at nearby welfare centers has been further strengthened," adding "We will enhance both accessibility and quality of services so that rehabilitation robots become a practical means to support users' daily recovery and independence."
