Dongtan Area Emergency Medical System Enhancement Discussed

Dongtan-gu Health Center in Hwaseong Special City held a meeting on the 27th to strengthen the emergency medical system in the Dongtan area, where swift response to emergency situations is required due to its large permanent population.

Officials from emergency medical-related institutions including Dongtan-gu Office, Hwaseong Fire Station, and relevant emergency medical agencies gathered for "A Meeting for Proper Operation of Emergency Medical System in Dongtan Area" to share opinions.

The Dongtan area has a large permanent population, and when emergency situations occur, the reality is that over 40% of emergency patients are transferred to medical institutions in nearby areas.

Therefore, cooperation among emergency medical institutions is crucial. Accordingly, officials from Hwaseong Fire Station, Hallym University Dongtan Sacred Heart Hospital, Dongtan City Hospital, and hospitals operating as Dongtan Sacred Mother Hospital, Best Aisle Hospital, and Central Children's Hospital, as well as Moonlight Children's Hospital, attended and shared opinions.

The attending institutions discussed ▲easing concentration of mild patients at large hospitals ▲establishing a cooperation system for timely treatment according to symptoms ▲swift inter-hospital referral and continuous information exchange measures.

Yoo Jong-woo, head of Dongtan-gu Health Center, stated, "It is important for the emergency medical system to clarify roles by institution and cooperate to ensure swift transfer and medical treatment suited to patients' conditions," adding "We will create an emergency medical environment where citizens can use services with confidence by sharing information among related institutions and inspecting transfer and referral systems."
