Appointment Gyeonggi Province Appoints Sohn Im-sung, Director of Urban and Housing Division, as New Administrative Vice Governor…Accelerating Balanced Development Between South and North Regions

Gyeonggi Province announced on the 30th that it has promoted Sohn Im-sung, Director of the Urban and Housing Division, to the position of new Administrative Vice Governor, which had been vacant.

Newly appointed Administrative Vice Governor Sohn Im-sung (57) is an urban administration expert who entered public service through the 34th Technical High Civil Service Examination in 1999 and has held various major urban development and construction positions throughout the province. He graduated from Suncheon Geumdam High School and the Department of Civil Engineering at Yonsei University, and completed his master's degree in Regional Economics at Ajou University Graduate School.

Vice Governor Sohn has held key positions in both metropolitan and local governments, including Director of New City Development, Director of Urban Policy, Urban Policy Director at Gyeonggi Province, Vice Mayor of Hwaseong City, Vice Mayor of Bucheon City, Director of Balanced Development Planning at Gyeonggi Province, and Director of Urban and Housing Division.

In particular, he is credited with playing a leading role in stably steering the construction and development of Gwanggyo New City and laying the foundation for Gyeonggi Province's mid- to long-term urban and housing policies.

Gyeonggi Province explained the appointment background, citing his deep expertise in urban planning and development projects, as well as his outstanding administrative capacity based on his experience as Director of Balanced Development Planning and Vice Mayor of local governments, making him the ideal candidate to smoothly lead development of the Gyeonggi northern region and balanced development policies between the south and north regions.

Following his inauguration, the newly appointed Administrative Vice Governor Sohn will oversee all administrative affairs of his jurisdiction centered on the Gyeonggi Northern Provincial Office and is scheduled to begin full-scale work on development plans for the northern region and improving the quality of life for residents.
