Kim Dong-yeon: "Gyeonggi Province will take on 2% of the government's target potential growth rate of 3%"

[Suwon Ilbo=Kim Gap-dong Reporter] Kim Dong-yeon, Gyeonggi Province Governor, emphasized that "Gyeonggi Province, the center of the Korean economy and industry, will take responsibility for 2% of the 3% potential growth rate target set by the central government."

Governor Kim held a New Year press conference at the Danwon Hall of Gyeonggi Provincial Government on the 2nd and stated, "We will lead Korea's growth through 'three major future growth projects' in semiconductors, AI, and climate industries."

He further stated, "Gyeonggi Province has found a solution to the critical issue of power supply for the Yongin semiconductor cluster. For the first time in Korea, we will install a power grid on the Yongin-Icheon road to expand 3GW while achieving budget savings and shortened construction periods," and added, "Since the 'Semiconductor Special Law,' which Gyeonggi Province proposed legislation for, has passed the National Assembly, we will immediately apply support measures under the special law to the field."

He further stated, "We will establish an AI metropolitan network where industry, academia, research, and business collaborate, actively support advanced manufacturing including physical AI, and soon open five AI cluster hubs in Pangyo, Bucheon, Siheung, Hanam, and Uijeongbu," and emphasized, "This year we will launch 'Gyeonggi Climate Satellite 2' into space, establish a climate tech fund to actively foster ventures and startups, and accelerate the construction of a climate tech cluster."

Governor Kim stated, "Not even a year after the Lee Jae-myung administration's launch, our economy has been placed on a clear trajectory of recovery and growth, and Gyeonggi Province will become the 'field responsibility officer' for the success of the 'Lee Jae-myung administration' as the 'number one partner in national policy." He further stated, "Now the role of local government in connecting the central government's achievements to the people's livelihoods is important. Gyeonggi Province's policy goal is first, second, and third, for all residents to feel improved living conditions. We will concentrate our policy capacity to definitively reduce living costs," he emphasized strongly.

Governor Kim presented key policy directions for Gyeonggi Province this year as △alleviating shopping basket burdens △reducing transportation cost burdens △expanding nursing and childcare responsibilities. To this end, he explained representative policies including stabilizing shopping basket prices through 'Gyeonggi Revitalization Big Sale' and 'Small Business Boost Card,' saving commute costs and time through 'The Gyeonggi Pass' Season 2 and GTX route extensions and the second phase metropolitan railway network construction, and childcare support policies through 'Gyeonggi Province Nursing SOS' and family childcare allowances.

He further emphasized continuous promotion of policies including 'ultra-low credit loan 2.0,' development of US military returned areas, 'rural basic income,' and 'high-amount and habitual tax delinquency zero policy.'

Governor Kim stated, "I visited all 31 cities and counties with the promise that 'everywhere I go, things change,' met over 6,400 people at the sites of people's lives, received about 300 civil complaints, and have currently resolved 70% of them," adding, "I will completely wrap up issues resolved on the ground through implementation and take full responsibility for remaining tasks."

He further emphasized, "'Gyeonggi Plus for My Life,' I will accelerate further," and stated, "With the resolve at the beginning of my term, I will run forcefully again so that all 14.2 million residents can feel improved living standards."
