Chairman Kim Mi-kyung: "I Will Check Traditional Market Inconveniences Directly in the Field"
The Suwon Special Metropolitan City Council (Chairman Kim Mi-kyung) visited Maesan Market on the 31st to examine major issues facing the market such as securing parking spaces, improving drainage facilities to prevent flooding, and expanding cooling facilities in preparation for extreme heat, and discussed ways to revitalize the market district.
The on-site visit was attended by Chairman Kim Mi-kyung, Council Member Jo In-hui (Democratic Party, representing Maegyo·Maesan·Godeung·Hwaseo 1·2·Seryou 1 districts), Council Member Jung Ok-sun (People Power Party, representing Maegyo·Maesan·Godeung·Hwaseo 1·2·Seryou 1 districts), Suwon City Council officials, and relevant city government officials.
In particular, they directly heard inconveniences and suggestions that merchants are experiencing in the field, and took time to review matters requiring improvement and future directions with relevant departments.
Chairman Kim Mi-kyung stated, "Since traditional markets are important living spaces where citizens' daily lives and the local economy intersect, it is important to directly examine the inconveniences experienced in the field and find practical improvement measures," and added, "I will continue to communicate with relevant departments so that the issues confirmed today can be improved one by one."
She further stated, "The council will also fulfill its necessary role so that citizens can use the market more conveniently and create an environment that becomes a source of vitality for merchants."
