Suwon and Korail Join Hands to Strengthen Rail-Tourism Linkage

Suwon Station will be revitalized as a tourism hub for the Suwon region, beyond serving as a transportation convenience facility. Suwon City and Korail's Suwon Operations Bureau signed a "Memorandum of Understanding for Strengthening Rail-Connected Transportation and Regional Tourism Activation" on the 12th at the City Hall video conference room.
Suwon Special City (Mayor Lee Jae-jun) and Korail (President Kim Tae-seung) agreed to strengthen connectivity between tourism transportation means such as the Suwon Tour Bus and Suwon Station and regional railways.
Additionally, they plan to provide public transportation and transfer information to major tourist attractions and key facilities, and promote joint publicity and sharing of shuttle bus operation information linked to regional events such as the Suwon Hwaseong Cultural Festival. Support for mobility and transfers for transportation-disadvantaged individuals will also be reinforced.
The two organizations plan to discuss plans for installing and utilizing regional event and tourism information guides at Suwon Station and symbols promoting Suwon tourism, and will consult on ways to enhance convenience for tourists, including establishing a tourism information center equipped with tourism guidance functions.
Shin So-young, Director of the Department of Culture, Tourism and Sports of Suwon City, said, "We will strengthen cooperation with Korail so that railway users visiting Suwon Station can conveniently travel to Suwon's major tourist attractions and festival venues," and added, "By linking transportation and tourism, we will build a regional tourism foundation that both citizens and visitors can experience."
