"Gas explosion at Mir Stadium"...Yongin conducts comprehensive disaster response drill involving 15 organizations

Yongin Special City (Mayor Sang-il Lee) conducted the '2026 Disaster Response Safe Korea Drill' on the 22nd at Yongin Mir Stadium, simulating a scenario in which a gas explosion occurs during a Yongin FC soccer match, resulting in stadium collapse and casualties from fire.
Yongin Special City Mayor Sang-il Lee, serving as the head of the Regional Disaster Safety Countermeasures Headquarters, said, "I am grateful to the organizations and groups that participated in this drill to minimize casualties and rapidly recover when emergency situations occur. Based on the experience gained through this drill on gas explosion accidents, we will respond calmly and thoroughly when similar situations arise."
The drill involved 290 personnel from 15 organizations and groups, including Yongin Special City, police, firefighting, medical institutions, gas and electricity-related agencies, and volunteer organizations composed of community members, who handled their assigned tasks as if in an actual emergency.

Mayor Lee received reports on situations developing at the site from the city hall disaster operations center, while enabling the city and related organizations to work organically at the site.
In coordination with Mayor Lee's command, Yongin Second Vice Mayor Jun-ki Hwang led personnel in charge of evacuation and accident response through video conference from the disaster field command vehicle set up at Yongin Mir Stadium to prevent damage expansion.
The 'Disaster Response Safe Korea Drill' is a nationwide drill conducted annually since 2005 to review the entire disaster response process of disaster management responsible agencies and ensure familiarity with tasks, and Yongin Special City is actively participating.

This year, Yongin Special City conducted the tabletop drill and field drill connected in real-time, emphasizing integrated linked drills connecting the Disaster Safety Countermeasures Headquarters and the Disaster Site Integrated Support Headquarters in real-time, actual emergency response with rescue personnel and equipment deployment, and preparations for crowd crush accidents to enhance disaster response capabilities.
