On Thursday the 5th, rain will fall across most regions of the country but clear up mostly in the afternoon. According to the Korea Meteorological Administration, rain that begins in the early morning hours in Incheon, southern Gyeonggi Province, southern inland Gangwon, Chungcheong regions, and Gyeongsang regions will expand nationwide by morning before clearing in the afternoon.

However, some areas of Jeju Island will experience rain through the evening, and some areas may see light rain in the late night in the capital region, inland Gangwon and mountainous areas, and northern Chungcheong.

Expected precipitation amounts are ▲Seoul, Incheon, Gyeonggi Province, and five western islets around 5㎜ ▲Daejeon, Sejong, South Chungcheong, North Chungcheong 5~20㎜ ▲Gwangju, South Jeolla, Busan, Ulsan, South Gyeongsang 10~40㎜ ▲North Jeolla, Daegu, North Gyeongsang around 5~30㎜ ▲Jeju Island 10~60㎜ (up to 60㎜ in mountainous and mid-highland areas).

The southern coast and Jeju Island may experience thunder and lightning accompanied by gusty winds, so attention is required for facility management and accident prevention.

Air pollution and fine particulate matter information

• Fine and ultrafine particulate matter concentration 'good' to 'moderate': Thanks to precipitation and smooth atmospheric dispersion, air quality across the capital region and most areas nationwide will be generally clear.

Commute clothing and rainy day guide

• Bring an umbrella and waterproof jacket: Since rain will fall across most regions including the capital region during commute hours, be sure to bring a folding umbrella.

• Layered look for temperature regulation: As rain falls with cool air circulating and light rain may resume late at night, it is advisable to layer a jacket or trench coat over a thin top.

Health and safety management tips for rainy days

• Wet road driving and pedestrian safety: Roads may be slippery and visibility may decrease during morning commute, so caution should be taken against accidents through reduced speed driving.

• Indoor humidity and ventilation management: From the afternoon when rain clears, it is recommended to open windows for ventilation, and after returning home, maintain body temperature by drinking warm tea.
