Yongin Special City (Mayor Lee Sang-il) has proposed institutional improvements to ensure that farmers do not face disadvantages in the process of the comprehensive agricultural land survey.

The entire Yongin City has been designated as a 'Foreign Land Transaction Permitted Zone' through August 25, 2027, established to prevent speculative real estate purchases by foreigners.

Since the designation of the 'Foreign Land Transaction Permitted Zone' is intended to prevent speculative real estate purchases by foreigners, the city's position is that issuing unconditional disposition orders for domestically-owned agricultural land within the zone is unreasonable.

Accordingly, the city proposed to the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs on the 14th to establish rational standards for agricultural land within the Foreign Land Transaction Permitted Zone targeting foreigners.

The city's position is to clarify whether unconditional disposition orders should be applied to agricultural land acquired prior to the designation of the 'Foreign Land Transaction Permitted Zone.'

Mayor Lee Sang-il of Yongin City instructed at a senior civil servant meeting on the 6th that "the city should carefully identify the difficulties farmers face in the field during the agricultural land survey process and propose institutional improvements to relevant agencies including the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs to minimize disadvantages."

The city has been conducting surveys on 55,153 parcels of agricultural land from May through December this year. As of October 16, surveys were completed for 48,657 parcels, and supplementary surveys including verification of actual farming status will be conducted according to the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs' guidelines.
