Osan City Launches Citizen Participatory Budget Committee…Begins Review of 12 Budget Projects

Osan City (Mayor Cho Yong-ho) held an appointment ceremony for citizen participatory budget committee members on the 19th at the City Hall's Mul Hyang-gi Hall as one of the pledge projects for the 9th popularly elected administration, and held its first meeting.
The city decided to actively support the Citizen Participatory Budget Committee with the aim of enhancing budget transparency and realizing grassroots democracy.
At the meeting presided over by Vice Mayor Yun Young-mi, committee members were notified of 12 projects out of a total of 96 proposals submitted in this year's citizen proposal project competition that are capable of receiving budget allocations after review by relevant departments.
Regarding these projects, members agreed to comprehensively examine departmental review opinions, project necessity, urgency, citizen benefits, and budget investment efficiency to ensure that citizen proposals can lead to substantive budget planning.
Mayor Cho Yong-ho stated, "The citizen participatory budget system is an important mechanism through which citizens as stakeholders of city affairs work together to consider and create projects needed in the region," and added, "We will make efforts to ensure that the valuable opinions of citizens are reflected in city governance."
Meanwhile, the results of budget allocation for projects proposed through the citizen project competition are scheduled to be disclosed to proposers and citizens through the Osan City homepage at the end of December when the review of the 2027 general budget is completed.
