Gimpo, Guri, and Hanam to Supply 76,700 New Housing Units in Seoul Metropolitan Area Within 5km of Seoul

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (Minister Hong Ji-seon) announced on the 29th six new housing development candidate sites totaling 76,700 units in Gimpo, Guri, Hanam, Uijeongbu, and Goyang cities as follow-up measures to the 'Rapid Housing Supply Plan (8.13 Measures)'.
All candidate sites are located within approximately 5km from the Seoul boundary in transportation hubs with excellent accessibility to the city center. In particular, these areas are development-restricted zones with already damaged environments and low ecological value, where unplanned development is underway or of concern.
The government's policy is to promote rapid housing supply in the relevant districts so that actual residents such as young people and newlyweds can stably live in well-located, quality housing.
The Gimpo Araj District, which will supply 37,000 units, is a high-demand area located on the Han River, with an extension project of the Line 5 (passed preliminary feasibility study, scheduled for March 2026) underway nearby, as well as Gimpo Han River Road and the Metropolitan Expressway No. 1 Ring Road, making inter-region travel convenient.
The Guri Gunwon District will supply 14,600 units, is adjacent to the Metropolitan Expressway No. 1 Ring Road, and allows travel to Jamsil Station in about 30 minutes. Surrounded by Yongam Stream and Wangsuk Stream, the district will be developed as a riverside living area while enhancing self-sufficient functions through relocation reviews of agricultural and fishery wholesale markets.
The Hanam Misa K-Culture District, which will supply 12,000 units, is located near Misa Island where Line 5 is situated, with extension projects of Lines 3 and 9 underway nearby, and possesses excellent scenic resources including Misa Gyeongjeong Park and Han River waterfront.
The Hanam Gamil 2 District, which will supply 6,500 units, is an area with excellent accessibility to Olympic Park and the Han River via Gami Stream. A public transportation system will be established in connection with the Line 3 extension project underway within the nearby Hanam Gamil District. The Uijeongbu Daraguon District, which will supply 2,600 units, is a site that includes Camp Jackson, a returned U.S. military base, with Dobongsan Mountain and Jungnang Stream located nearby.
The Goyang Daegok Knowledge Convergence Expansion District will supply 4,000 units, with Daegok Station belonging to a penta-station precinct where five railway lines including GTX-A and Line 3 converge.
The government decided to apply the 'Public Land Shortest-Period Construction Model' prepared through the 8.13 Measures to these six new housing sites. Additionally, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport will implement speculation prevention measures to eliminate speculation in the announced districts.
Minister Hong Ji-seon of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport stated, "It is more important than anything to continuously supply housing in excellent areas preferred by actual residents such as young people and newlyweds," and added, "We will make every effort to swiftly supply these new housing sites by applying the shortest-period construction model to all procedures from district designation to construction commencement."
