AI Stenographer as a Career: Obtain National Certification to Earn Professional Recognition

Interest in AI stenographers, recording specialists who can be recognized as professionals and continue working even in the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, is growing. In particular, through the Korean Broadcasting Vocational's customized national certification consulting program 'Obtain Your Certification and Earn Professional Recognition,' various information about the present and future of AI stenographers is being shared, making stenographer certifications a hot topic.

On June 7, during the broadcast of the certification program, Yoon Young, secretary of the Korea AI Stenographers Association, appeared and introduced AI stenographers along with various information about stenography. Through the broadcast, it became an informative time to understand the overall content of evolving stenography by examining the curriculum for obtaining stenographer certification, the actual work process after certification, and the reality of stenographers working in the field.

Yoon Young, secretary of the Korea AI Stenographers Association, stated, "Until now, it has been unfortunate that many people have looked at stenography with incorrect information, understanding stenography through only limited internet and surrounding information. I hope this broadcast serves as an opportunity for those interested in stenography or AI stenography to reconsider it accurately."

As artificial intelligence technology development has brought about changes across society in recent years, the stenography field has also seen various opinions due to AI and voice recognition technology. In particular, through voice recognition technology, it is possible to accurately record all spoken content while distinguishing speakers simultaneously, and it is possible to record for hours without interruption—advantages that stenographers have not been able to achieve.

However, due to the nature of stenographers' work, which involves recording not only voice but also behavioral patterns, the atmosphere of the scene, sounds, and various other content, it is difficult to record accurately with AI alone. For this reason, precise understanding of AI stenography, which is stenography through collaboration between stenographers and AI where stenographers fill in the gaps with their know-how and skills, is essential.

In this regard, the broadcast also showcased 'Sori Java Alpha,' an AI stenography system developed for the first time in the world and used by government agencies including the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, the Ministry of Justice, and various legislatures. Additionally, through the 'InterSteno' festival in July this year, a global gathering of stenographers, there is an opportunity to raise awareness of AI stenography. It is anticipated that AI stenography equipped with translation functions will enable borderless stenography.

Meanwhile, while interest in stenography is growing, it is important to note that people often make inaccurate judgments about stenography after encountering misinformation spread online. As introduced through the broadcast, the Korea AI Stenographers Association has opened doors to free education and consultation for those interested in becoming stenographers. Through branches nationwide including Seoul, Daejeon, Daegu, Busan, and Gwangju, the association provides opportunities to directly experience AI stenography keyboards as well as to learn about the various realities of 21st-century stenographers.
