Gahaksan Arboretum Opens with Gwangmyeong's First Exhibition Greenhouse

Gahaksan Arboretum, which houses Gwangmyeong's first exhibition greenhouse 'Hakongjae,' has opened on a 32,820 square meter site.
The City of Gwangmyeong (Mayor Park Seung-won) held the opening ceremony for 'Gahaksan Arboretum' on the 28th in the Four Seasons Garden within Gahaksan Neighborhood Park. The project, with a total investment of 12 billion won, is a true ecological rest space for Gwangmyeong citizens.
At the ceremony, Mayor Park Seung-won of Gwangmyeong stated, "Gahaksan Arboretum will provide citizens with rest in their daily lives and add value to Gwangmyeong as a city coexisting with nature. We will promote garden culture so that citizens can enjoy nature close to their everyday lives and create a Gwangmyeong that practices carbon neutrality."
The arboretum features Gwangmyeong's first exhibition greenhouse 'Hakongjae' and is organized into five thematic spaces.
At the entrance of the arboretum, the 'Welcome Garden' featuring purple flowers and wall fountains welcomes visitors. 'Hakongjae,' the signature space of the arboretum, showcases exotic plant landscapes with 23 large trees and 1,844 shrubs and flowering plants arranged in a Mediterranean-style setting.
The 'Four Seasons Garden' is designed with a yellow theme. In the center of the garden that unfolds around the lawn plaza, a work titled 'World Mirror' by renowned sculptor You Young-ho has been installed, adding harmony between nature and art.
'Dodamdodam Forest' features a walking trail with a fairy-tale cottage and log cabin, as well as a barefoot walking area. At the far end of the arboretum, the 'Moss Garden' artfully arranges moss native to the site and moss that grows in sunny areas, creating an atmosphere of peaceful woodland.
Gahaksan Arboretum is free to enter and available to everyone. The outdoor arboretum spaces are open at all times, while the exhibition greenhouse 'Hakongjae' and cafeteria operate from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
