Gwangmyeong City (Mayor Park Seung-won) announced on the 16th that it will newly install 12 smart bus stops that allow citizens to wait comfortably for buses without weather concerns this year, expanding from the existing 22 locations to a total of 34 facilities, approximately a 55 percent increase.

The eight newly installed locations are ▲Gwangmyeong Citizens Hall ▲Gwangmyeong North Middle and High School ▲Cheolsan Prugio Sky Apartment ▲Haan 119 Safety Center ▲Garim Elementary School and Auto Auction House ▲Kumho Samik Apartment ▲Soha 3 Complex ▲Gwangmyeong Station Park Zai bus stops, with a total budget of 1.43 billion won allocated.

Smart bus stops are equipped with various convenience facilities including heating and cooling systems, bus information terminals, and closed-circuit television (CCTV), allowing citizens to wait for buses comfortably while being less affected by weather conditions such as heat waves and cold snaps.

Among the newly installed stops this year, seven locations will also feature vertical gardens. By adding green spaces using plants on the interior walls of the stops, improvements in aesthetics and air purification effects can be expected.

As part of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's Compact Smart City Project, the city plans to reduce operating costs for smart bus stops by utilizing 250 kW solar power generation facilities to be established at the Soha Drainage Pump Station.

A portion of the electricity generated by the solar power facilities will be sold to Korea Electric Power Corporation, with the remainder used to offset the electrical power needed for smart bus stop operations.

Gwangmyeong Mayor Park Seung-won stated, "We will continue to improve the public transportation environment so that citizens can feel comfortable and at ease from the moment they wait for a bus."
