Gyeonggi Province to Deploy 200 Charter and Government Buses in Response to Full Bus Strike on 30th

In preparation for a potential full strike of city and intercity buses in the Gyeonggi region on the 30th, emergency transportation measures will be implemented by deploying approximately 200 charter and government buses to major hubs in 15 cities.
Yun Tae-wan, Head of the Transportation Bureau of Gyeonggi Province, announced the 'Gyeonggi Province Emergency Transportation Measures for City and Intercity Bus Strike Response' during a briefing on the morning of the 29th. According to his analysis, if the strike materializes, 3,798 buses (35.7%) belonging to 29 companies out of a total of 10,631 city and intercity buses are estimated to participate in the strike, affecting a total of 15 cities including 12 cities in southern Gyeonggi and 3 cities in northern Gyeonggi.
Director Yun stated, "Since 09:00 this morning (29th), we are operating a situation room and implementing a 24-hour emergency response system, and we will make every effort to address strike trends, citizen safety, and emergency transportation measures in the bus, taxi, and railway sectors."
The province plans to designate 160 key boarding points including major subway stations in 15 cities such as Suwon Station, Giheung Station, and Daehwa Station, as well as terminals, and deploy approximately 200 charter and government buses to implement circulation operations between these hubs.
Additionally, the province plans to increase frequency distribution of approximately 2,300 village buses across 630 routes during commute hours and encourage the operation of approximately 27,000 taxis to the maximum extent possible.
The province will also increase the frequency of Seoul Metropolitan Subway and light rail operations during commute times and strengthen safety management by deploying information staff to handle congestion within stations.
Residents will be provided timely information about the strike situation and alternative transportation methods through the Gyeonggi Bus Information System (gbis.go.kr), provincial and municipal websites, social media, and bus stop notices.
