Yangju City Proposes 16 Key Issues to LH, Including New Residential Sites in Baekseok and Gwangjjeok

Yangju City proposed 16 major issues to the Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH), which oversees development of residential land development project districts.
On the 2nd, Yangju City met with Rep. Jung Sung-ho (Democratic Party, Dongducheon·Yangju·Yeoncheon District A) and Lee Sung-hun, President of Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH), to propose support for smooth project promotion in Yangju City's residential land development project districts and improvement of residents' settlement conditions.
The 16 major issues proposed by the city include review of new residential land development and resolution of long-standing issues in existing residential land development districts, expansion of wide-area transportation and road infrastructure, improvement of public convenience facilities such as parks and streams, and adjustment of public housing supply plans.
To achieve balanced development in the western region, the city proposed review of designation of new public housing districts in the Baekseok and Gwangjjeok areas. In addition, the city requested prompt project promotion in the Gwangseok District and development of rational utilization plans for unutilized and unsold land within the Goeup, Okjeong, and Hoecheon districts.
The city requested review of wide-area transportation improvement measures reflecting traffic demand and regional conditions resulting from residential land development, improvement of traffic congestion at Goam IC, improvement of safety and pedestrian environment on Deokgye Bridge, and expansion of transfer parking at Deokjeong Station.
The city proposed strengthening pedestrian connectivity at Hoecheon Culture Park, review of installation of pedestrian bridges over Deokgyecheon, expansion of water-friendly spaces and public convenience facilities at Cheongdamcheon and Deokgyecheon, and creation of parks and leisure spaces utilizing long-unsold land.
Regarding the Jangheung Public Housing District, the city requested review of adjustment plans to reduce the ratio of public rental housing to 50% or less, taking into account regional conditions and housing demand.
Mayor Jung Duk-young of Yangju City said, "It is important for residential land development projects to not only supply housing but also establish overall urban infrastructure including transportation, parks, and living convenience facilities," and added, "I will work closely with Rep. Jung Sung-ho and LH to develop practical solutions to local issues and strive to improve residential environments that residents can feel."
