Suwon City and LH Sign Agreement on Stable Supply of Independent Housing for Persons with Disabilities

Suwon Special City (Mayor Lee Jae-jun) and the Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH) signed a "Business Agreement for Suwon City's Independent Housing Support Project for Persons with Disabilities" on the 21st at the city hall situation room, pledging stable supply.
The agreement ceremony was attended by Mayor Lee Jae-jun of Suwon Special City, Regional Director Gwon Woon-hyuk of LH's Gyeonggi South Regional Headquarters, and Chairman Lee Jong-gab of the Suwon Federation of Disabled Welfare Organizations.
Director Gwon Woon-hyuk stated, "Suwon City is actively implementing housing welfare-related policies and seeing results," and added, "We will cooperate so that Suwon City's independent housing model for persons with disabilities spreads nationwide."
Independent housing for persons with disabilities is housing designed to allow persons with disabilities who reside in facilities or who seek independence in the community to live in independent residential spaces while receiving customized support services tailored to individual needs.
In accordance with the "Act on Support for Community Independence and Housing Transition of Persons with Disabilities" scheduled for implementation on March 19, 2027, Suwon City is promoting the establishment of "Suwon-style One-Stop Service Support" that integrates housing, employment, and welfare services.
Under the agreement with LH, Suwon City will select residents (users) and oversee the overall project, including linking customized independence support services for individuals, while LH will supply independent housing units for persons with disabilities.
Mayor Lee Jae-jun stated, "With today's business agreement on independent housing for persons with disabilities, welfare for persons with disabilities will take another step forward," and added, "I hope this will be of practical help to persons with disabilities who wish to become independent."
