[Suwon Ilbo= Reporter Park No-hoon] Han Han-guk, a world peace artist and recipient of the "4th Proud Gyeonggi Resident Award" in 2017, has donated 300 kg of "Peace Talent Sharing Rice" to help North Korean defectors successfully settle in South Korea.
On the 14th, the artist visited the "Pyeongtaek YMCA Gyeonggi Southern Hana Center," an institution supporting the initial settlement of North Korean defectors, and delivered 300 kg of rice obtained through talent donation for corporate logo production to small and medium enterprises.
Han said, "As a recipient of the Proud Gyeonggi Resident Award, I am pleased to be able to practice such sharing, and I hope that 'Peace Talent Sharing Rice' will expand nationwide starting from Gyeonggi Province. Going forward, I will continue to engage in activities that can contribute to peace and unification of the Korean Peninsula and world peace."
The 300 kg of "Peace Talent Sharing Rice" donated by Han will be distributed to newly defected residents and others receiving initial education at the center.
Han was recognized as a recipient of the "4th Proud Gyeonggi Resident Award" in 2017 for creating a "World Peace Map" in Hangul and donating it to 22 countries at UN headquarters, as well as for creating a "Korean Peninsula Peace Map" in 80,000 Hangul characters over five years and delivering it to North Korea, for which he received a letter of gratitude from North Korea's Ministry of Culture. Meanwhile, the "Gyeonggi Southern Hana Center" is an institution that supports stable social adaptation and self-reliance by providing intensive initial education (8 days/50 hours) and regional adaptation support (post-support) to North Korean defectors who complete their studies at "Hana One," an institution under the Ministry of Unification where North Korean defectors receive their first education, and wish to settle in Pyeongtaek, Hwaseong, Osan, or Anseong.
