Suwon Ilbo projected in an editorial published on the 7th of this month that more people would participate in the Suwon Night Tour this year. It also anticipated that an influx of tourists would vitalize nearby commercial districts.

As expected, the '2026 Suwon National Heritage Night Tour,' composed of an '8 Night' program featuring eight themes including △night scenery △night paths △night history △night paintings △night tales △night markets △night dining △night lodging, drew more than double the approximately 100,000 visitors from last year's night tour, with a total of 264,000 visitors, achieving remarkable success.

The city actively addressed visitor safety concerns stemming from congestion at the event venue. It also received positive evaluations for being well-prepared in terms of cultural heritage management, which can often be overlooked at night. However, the chronic parking problem remained an unresolved issue.

It was evaluated as the most successful event in history. Local merchants welcoming the flood of visitors could not hide their smiles. One small fried chicken restaurant ran out of chicken and closed early.

As positive reviews from citizens and tourists continued, the city decided to extend the Suwon National Heritage Night Tour through the 30th of August. Attractions will continue at three key locations: the 'Yongnyeon Gat Lanterns' and 'Banghwa Bridge Lanterns' that adorned the Yongnyeon area, the 'Banghwamun Media Art' that was held around Banghwamun Gate, and the nighttime lighting displays at Maehyangyo Bridge and Suwoncheon Stream. From the 21st, 22nd, 28th, and 29th, the 'Banghwa Wind Melody' traditional Korean music performance will be held in the Yongnyeon area. In connection with the night opening of Suwon Fortress Palace, the 'Joseon Moonlight Market' and 'Palace Willow Market' will also be held.

This year's Suwon National Heritage Night Tour was a successful event. It was the result of Suwon City, the Suwon Cultural Foundation, and all organizations and residents in the Suwon area working as one. Regarding the factors behind the success of this year's event, marking its tenth installment, a foundation official explained that it was due to various night programs that combined the historical value of national heritage with contemporary cultural content.
