Feature Osan City to Deploy 'Kkasan' Mascot for Gyeonggi Province Sports Festival Promotion

The 2027-2028 Gyeonggi Province Comprehensive Sports Festival will be held in Osan. Starting with the Gyeonggi Province Sports Festival for People with Disabilities and the Gyeonggi Province Sports Festival next spring, four competitions will be held over two years. Osan City (Mayor Cho Yong-ho) is preparing alongside citizens with the city's representative character 'Kkasan' leading the way.
Osan City has launched a promotional campaign, meeting citizens at local festivals and major events to announce the games. The Kkasan mascot transformed into an official emblem and symbolic elements representing Osan's characteristics have been placed prominently. The city is operating on-site promotions and citizen participation programs utilizing these symbols.
'Kkasan' meeting citizens at events
A promotional booth for the Gyeonggi Province Comprehensive Sports Festival was set up at the 38th Citizens' Day Memorial Event held at Osan Stream on the 18th of last month. The booth displayed promotional materials using the games' emblem and Kkasan to introduce the four competitions being held in Osan. Citizens got a preview of the games by taking photos with Kkasan.

Kkasan also took the stage to celebrate hopes for the games' success. The theme of the event that day, held alongside athletes and delegations, was "Successful sports games completed by citizens' cheers—Osan!" The on-stage screen numbers increased according to the citizens' cheers, and messages wishing for the successful hosting of the games appeared at the final stage.
On August 28th at the opening ceremony of the 20th Gyeonggi Province Sports Festival for People with Disabilities held in Gapyeong, the city operated a promotional booth for the next host city. Osan City decorated the space with the emblem and Kkasan, and guided athletes, games officials, and visitors about the upcoming competitions.
Kkasan's activities are also making a mark online. Through its official Instagram, the city is serializing a four-panel comic series titled 'Imagination Above the Nest' featuring Kkasan, and posting video reels utilizing Kkasan and other diverse SNS content.

Kkasan holding the torch with varied expressions depending on sports categories
The Kkasan mascot that promotes the games at events is a restructured version of the existing Osan City character around a sports theme. Built upon the basic design of a personified crow, athletic movements and expressions have been added. This symbolic character now expresses the characteristics of the sports festival as well.
In the representative image, Kkasan holds the torch. Applied variations reflecting movements of competitions for both athletes with and without disabilities have also been prepared. Forms that can be used at events and facilities were also developed to allow usage tailored to promotional venues and purposes.
Symbolic elements reflecting Osan's initials and the leap of sports
The official emblem that promotes the games alongside Kkasan originated from 'ㅇ' and 'ㅅ,' the initial consonants of Osan. By combining curves and straight lines, it expresses the leap of sports and forward movement, embodying the participation and unity of Gyeonggi Province residents.

The slogans are "The passion of Gyeonggi Province! Shining through unity in Osan" and "Further through Osan! Higher with Gyeonggi!" The emblem and mascot will be commonly utilized across the four competitions held in Osan in 2027-2028 to promote Osan as the host city.
The first competition, the 17th Gyeonggi Province Sports Festival for People with Disabilities, will be held from April 19 to 21 next year. Following that, the 73rd Gyeonggi Province Sports Festival will be held from May 7 to 9. In 2028, the Gyeonggi Province Community Sports Festival and the Gyeonggi Province Community Sports Festival for People with Disabilities are scheduled.
Osan Mayor Cho Yong-ho said, "We will prepare alongside citizens to create games that both athletes and visitors coming to Osan can enjoy."
