This is the slogan put forth by Osan Mayor Jo Yong-ho, who is leading the 9th popularly elected administration under the theme of "Osan: A Growing City Open Together with Citizens."

Mayor Jo is accelerating the "Osan Great Leap Forward" by vigorously implementing 10 major strategic projects that encompass all aspects of city administration, including transportation, industry, education, welfare, and culture.

The vision is to secure future growth drivers for the city through expanding metropolitan transportation networks, developing the Sekyoe 3 District into a self-sufficient city, and fostering the AI and semiconductor industries, while creating tangible changes that citizens can experience through revitalizing the people's economy, customized welfare services, and improving the ecological environment.

Bundang Line Extension, GTX-C, Two-Story Bus Introduction...Pushing Forward with Sekyoe 3 District Self-Sufficient City Development

The core tasks of Osan's great leap forward focus on strengthening transportation competitiveness and building the foundation for a self-sufficient city.

Mayor Jo Yong-ho is promoting major metropolitan railway projects including the extension of the Bundang Line from Giheung to Osan, Osan stops for the Suwon-departure KTX, and the extension of GTX-C to Osan. The city is also promoting the introduction of eco-friendly two-story electric buses on metropolitan bus routes 5104 (to Seoul Station), 5300, and 1311 (to Gangnam), as well as increased frequency during commute hours.

The goal is to develop Sekyoe 3 District not merely as a residential supply area but as a self-sufficient city that combines housing, industry, transportation, and jobs. The city is requesting the Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH) to secure self-sufficient land use of up to 300,000 pyeong, exceeding the currently planned approximately 93,000 pyeong, while also promoting expansion of living infrastructure.

The city will establish a city structure where existing urban areas and new cities grow together by linking the Unam Valley AI City with advanced industrial complexes, while focusing efforts on balanced development so that the benefits of development spread throughout the regional economy.

Strengthening AI and Semiconductor Parts and Materials Industries to Secure Industrial Momentum

Fostering future industries is one of the core strategies to strengthen Osan's self-sufficient functions. The city will intensively develop AI and semiconductor materials, components, and equipment (MCP) industries, leveraging its geographical advantages adjacent to major industrial hubs such as Dongtan in Hwaseong, Giheung in Yongin, and Goduck in Pyeongtaek.

The city will respond to semiconductor MCP specialized complex applications and pursue the development of Jigot General Industrial Complex and attraction of key enterprises, while supporting corporate investment and settlement through the mayor's direct one-stop corporate support system. By linking Unam Valley AI City, Sekyoe 3 District, and industrial complexes, the city will also establish a foundation where industry and research and development functions grow together.

The vision is to establish educational infrastructure linked to industry demand, such as industry-integrated AI-specialized high schools, and strengthen AI and software education as well as specialized education linked across elementary, middle, and high schools, creating a virtuous cycle where talent trained locally finds employment and starts businesses at local enterprises.

Connecting Vacant Storefronts in Station Areas with Young Entrepreneurs to Resolve Unemployment

Revitalizing traditional markets and alleyway commercial areas is also a key task. The city plans to increase local consumption through Osaekjeon revitalization and consumption promotion policies, and strengthen commercial competitiveness through cooperation with Osaeksi Market delivery services and youth startup support. The city also plans to address vacant storefronts and youth employment by connecting vacant spaces in the Osan Station area with young entrepreneurs.

In the welfare sector, the city will promote expansion of "Always Daycare," strengthen elementary after-school care, link welfare, education, and rehabilitation services through a disability welfare town, and establish an integrated care system connecting medical, long-term care, and caregiving services.

In the ecological environment sector, the city will develop urban forest garden paths and living area gardens in Madum Mountain and Pilbong Mountain, and pursue climate action tasks including green building grading for public buildings and bans on single-use items at public facilities. The city will also develop stay-type tourism content linking Doksan Fortress, Sema Daiji, Jungmireung Peace Park, Osan Stream, Mulhyanggi Arboretum, and Osaeksi Market, and will restore the Doksan Fortress Cultural Festival.

Mayor Jo Yong-ho: "Today's Choices Will Determine Osan's Next 10, 20 Years"

At the center of Osan's great leap forward are citizen communication and responsible administration. Through "Mobile Mayor's Offices That Visit," the city directly listens to inconveniences in daily life such as transportation, parking, pedestrian environment, and residential safety, and reflects these in policies and budgets.

Improving the efficiency of financial operations is also a task. The city will re-examine the necessity and feasibility of projects to efficiently allocate resources, and will make efforts to secure external funding through special grants, special adjustment grants, and government and Gyeonggi Province promotion projects.

Mayor Jo Yong-ho emphasized, "A city grows when major sectors such as transportation, housing, industry, education, and welfare are organically connected and continuously innovate. Over the past 100 days, I have met with citizens and listened to them. I will now turn those promises into results over the next 1,000 days, opening a new future for Osan."

Mayor Jo said, "I will prepare for the future with the sense of responsibility that today's choices will determine Osan's next 10, 20 years. I will further strengthen the city's foundation, connect growth opportunities to citizens' happiness, and pass on a better Osan to the next generation."
