From the evening of the 27th, cold air from the northwest will push in again, and on Wednesday the 28th morning, temperatures in Seoul and Suwon are expected to drop to 2°C, bringing the coldest weather of early fall.

According to the Korea Meteorological Administration, throughout today until midday, the nation will be mostly clear with temperatures similar to seasonal norms and feel mild, but from evening, cold air will descend strongly from the north, causing temperatures to plummet sharply.

In particular, the temperature drop in the capital region and inland Gyeonggi areas is forecast to be significant. Wednesday (28th) morning minimum temperatures in major regions are: ▲Seoul 2°C ▲Suwon 2°C ▲Incheon 3°C ▲Paju -2°C ▲Yeoncheon -3°C ▲Gapyeong -1°C with southern Gyeonggi around 2°C and northern and eastern Gyeonggi dropping below freezing. With strong cold winds, the wind chill in the capital region during commute hours is expected to remain mostly below freezing.

Wednesday's daytime high temperatures will stay at ▲Seoul 12°C ▲Suwon 13°C ▲Incheon 12°C ▲Paju 11°C, remaining chilly throughout the day.

This cold spell will peak Wednesday morning and gradually recover to seasonal norms from Thursday onward, but cool transitional weather is forecast to persist in mornings and evenings for the time being.

[Living Cold Wave Response Guide] "Prepare like this for the sudden severe cold"

Steep temperature drops accompanied by cold winds require careful preparation in daily life.

• Maintain body temperature and bring cold-weather accessories (addressing wind chill)

Layering with multiple thin garments is more effective for warmth than a single thick piece of clothing. On Wednesday's commute, with strong winds bringing wind chill below freezing, bring scarves, gloves, and hats when heading out to cover exposed areas like the neck and hands.

• Heart and cerebrovascular disease and seasonal health management

When temperatures drop sharply, blood vessels constrict and blood pressure rises. Elderly people and those with heart and cerebrovascular diseases should refrain from outdoor exercise Wednesday morning and take care to avoid sudden exposure to cold air when going out.

• Prevention of cold damage and frost injury to crops during harvest season

In regions with subzero temperatures and frost expected, such as northern Gyeonggi and inland Gangwon, measures are necessary to prevent cold damage to crops during harvest season, such as using thermal covers or conducting advance inspections of heating equipment.

• Fire prevention when using heating devices

As use of electric heating pads, kerosene heaters, and other heating appliances surges during this period of sudden cold, inspect wire conditions on older heating devices and remove dust around plugs to prevent fire accidents.
