Outstanding Construction Firms Now Rewarded with Opportunity, Not Regulation

Moving away from regulation-focused construction policies, Gyeonggi Province is promoting the 'Gyeonggi Province Fair Bidding Model Construction Enterprise Selection' to provide opportunities to outstanding construction firms and foster continuous development of the construction industry and revitalization of the construction market.
Gyeonggi Province plans to select a total of 10 companies through screening from construction firms within the province that received at least one passing judgment in the Gyeonggi Province public bidding fact-finding survey. The province explained that this initiative also reflects its intention to spread a fair bidding culture.
Bae Seong-ho, director of the Construction Bureau of Gyeonggi Province, said, "Through this pilot project, we will discover outstanding construction enterprises that practice fair bidding and sound management, and ensure that a fair bidding culture spreads throughout the construction industry."
The screening process involves preliminary review of construction industry registration standards, major disasters, tax arrears, and administrative sanctions, followed by quantitative evaluation and qualitative evaluation by a review committee for final selection. Quantitative evaluation will comprehensively assess legal compliance and soundness, sustainability, new technology and patents, and contribution to construction in Gyeonggi Province, while qualitative evaluation will comprehensively assess construction capability, safety management, and collaborative cooperation.
Selected model construction enterprises will be provided with incentives including extension of the public bidding fact-finding survey deferral period and promotional support.
Applications will be accepted from October 12 to 30 through the Gyeonggi Province Chapter of the Korean Construction Association and the Gyeonggi Province Chapter of the Korean Association of Specialist Contractors. Following preliminary review and quantitative and qualitative evaluation, final selections will be made by the end of December.
