Profile Yoon Sang-hyun, Outside Director of DSR Co., Ltd., from the Steel Mill Floor to the Audit Committee Seat

Yoon Sang-hyun is a businessman who started his career on the steel mill floor and took a seat on the audit committee of a listed company. In March of this year, he was appointed as outside director and member of the audit committee of DSR Co., Ltd., a wire rope manufacturer, with a three-year term. His industry history confirmed through public records dates back 31 years. In 1995, on Commerce Day, his name appeared on the list of award recipients from the Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy, at which time he was a director at Daesung Steel Industrial Co. Daesung Steel Industrial changed its name to the current DSR in May 2000. He served as executive managing director of sales at this company from 2000 to 2004, and previously worked as director of production management.
His field experience did not end with retirement. In March 2020, he was appointed as outside director of affiliated listed company DSR Steel Co., taking on the role of audit committee member, and was reappointed in March 2023, completing six years through March of this year. DSR Steel cited his production management and sales experience in the nomination rationale as a "background that can contribute to the operation of the outside director and audit committee." The company placed someone who knows the factory and business partners in a position to monitor the company by numbers, rather than a financial expert. And in March of this year, his role has moved to its parent company DSR Co., Ltd., and continues.
His Time Beyond the Ledger Is at Dongrae Senior Center
His publicly confirmed time outside the corporate sector is in Sumin-dong, Dongrae-gu, Busan. He is a director of the Busan Elderly Welfare Association's Dongrae branch and chairman of the Porenae Dongrae Senior Center, and has led activities involving the senior center and neighboring daycare center. In November 2024, he participated in an environmental cleanup campaign with approximately 60 children from Dongrae Dream Green Daycare, approximately 20 senior center members, and others, cleaning habitually neglected areas in Sumin-dong.
This past Lunar New Year, the daycare children visited the senior center to bow to the elderly, and 20 sets of sesame oil and sesame seeds worth 380,000 won were distributed to neighbors in need. The 205,000 won in Lunar New Year's money received by the children was also donated as a fund to help neighbors. In September ahead of Chuseok, the elderly and children together made Korean pancakes and delivered them to 15 elderly households living alone. These were gatherings created together by the senior center, daycare center, and Sumin-dong Administrative Welfare Center.
Synthesizing public records, Yoon Sang-hyun's career is organized into three segments: the production management and sales field that continued from Daesung Steel Industrial to DSR, six years of outside director and audit committee roles continuing from DSR Steel to DSR Co., Ltd., and the time spent as senior center chairman in Dongrae's Sumin-dong in between. It is a résumé that gives equal weight to the factory's ledger and the neighborhood's wellbeing.
