Dongtan Tram Groundbreaking Ceremony Held Connecting Byeongjeom Station to Dongtan Station...Total Length 31.5km with 33 Stations

The Dongtan Tram, which will connect Byeongjeom Station and Dongtan Station and is expected to dramatically improve transportation convenience in the Dongtan area upon completion, held its groundbreaking ceremony.

Hwaseong Special City (Mayor Jung Myeong-geun) held the "Dongtan Urban Railroad Construction Project (Phase 1) Priority Construction Section Groundbreaking Ceremony" on the 2nd and initiated the Dongtan Tram project. The priority construction section work represents a preparatory phase to secure site conditions in advance before main construction begins and to smoothly promote future main construction.

The city completed the review of technical proposals and detailed design documents for the Dongtan Urban Railroad Construction Project (Phase 1) and selected the DL E&C; Consortium as the qualified entity for detailed design.

Accordingly, the DL E&C; Consortium will proceed with the priority construction section work for 120 days from the commencement date and conduct detailed design for main construction over 8 months.

Hwaseong Special City Mayor Jung Myeong-geun stated, "After a long wait of 17 years, the Dongtan Tram, a long-held wish of our citizens, has held its groundbreaking ceremony," and added, "The Dongtan Tram is a key transportation infrastructure that will enhance transfer convenience with regional railways and make commuting and school routes more convenient for our citizens."

The Dongtan Urban Railroad Construction Project (Phase 1) is a large-scale project creating 33 stations and 1 vehicle depot across a total length of 31.5km, consisting of a 17.8km section from Byeongjeom Station to Dongtan Station to the vehicle depot and a 13.7km section from Mangpo Station to Dongtan Station to Banggyo-dong.
