The Blue House has issued an official statement saying it had prior knowledge of and took measures regarding reports that personal information of Air Force One passengers was exposed on the internet.
According to a KBS report on the 2nd, an Excel file containing personal information of 168 Air Force One passengers during last June's Group of Seven (G7) summit visit was leaked and posted on a paid internet site providing malware scanning services.
The file reportedly included names, dates of birth, passport numbers, and passport issuance and expiration dates of President Lee Jae-myeong and his spouse, Blue House officials, accompanying personnel, and accompanying journalists.
In response, a Blue House official said on the 2nd, "We had prior knowledge of the personal information exposure and completed response measures, but we plan to take additional measures together with related agencies including the Foreign Ministry regarding the reported content."
The government and related ministries plan to identify the exact cause of the information leak while reviewing security management systems to prevent similar cases from occurring in the future and developing recurrence prevention measures.
