[Suwon Ilbo= Reporter Kim A-hyun] A Japan boycott movement is spreading.
Monami and Morning Glory have emerged as potential beneficiaries of the boycott movement.
Domestic stationery companies such as Monami and Morning Glory have failed to generate significant profits despite their superior quality, being overshadowed by Japanese writing instruments.
Monami's stock rose 29% to close at 3,325 won at the daily limit.
Meanwhile, the travel industry, which has a high proportion of Japanese products, is expressing concerns about deteriorating performance, with the travel industry remaining on heightened alert.
According to the Korea Tourism Organization and the Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO), 7.53 million out of 28.69 million outbound travelers last year visited Japan.
The initial outlook was that this travel trend would continue this year, but a sudden deterioration in South Korea-Japan relations is emerging as a variable. Some individual travelers are even launching campaigns to cancel Japan trips and boycott travel products.
A travel industry official stated, "Although Japan travel demand has never experienced negative growth despite political and diplomatic friction, we are monitoring the situation and also reviewing plans to expand routes to China and Southeast Asia."
