[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Eom In-yong] Bang Se-hwan, the People Power Party's candidate for Gwangju mayor, held a 'Policy Agreement Ceremony for the Promotion of an AI Semiconductor Future Industry Cluster in Southern Gyeonggi' with Yang Hyang-ja, the People Power Party's candidate for Gyeonggi Province governor, in Gwangju, Gyeonggi Province on the 28th, presenting a vision for fostering future industries in Gwangju.

At the event, Kim Moon-soo, former People Power Party presidential candidate, took the campaign stump in support, and People Power Party candidates for Gwangju municipal and provincial assembly seats also attended, demonstrating their commitment to unity and electoral victory.

In particular, candidates Yang Hyang-ja and Bang Se-hwan formalized a joint vision for developing Gwangju into a future industry city centered on AI and semiconductors through the policy agreement.

The agreement included ▲establishment of semiconductor and AI specialized high schools ▲construction of AI cloud infrastructure ▲creation of AI and semiconductor value chain partner industrial complexes ▲establishment of startup support centers and other initiatives.

Candidate Yang Hyang-ja stated, "South Korea's future competitiveness will ultimately be determined by AI and semiconductors," and emphasized, "Gwangju is a city with both growth potential and competitive advantages, and can grow into a key hub of the southern Gyeonggi advanced industrial belt."

She continued, "We must create a city where young people do not leave Gwangju and where companies and technology gather," and stated, "Gyeonggi Province and Gwangju City will work together to build the foundation for future industries and create new growth engines for Gwangju."

Former candidate Kim Moon-soo, who took the campaign stump in support, said, "South Korea is currently facing very difficult economic and livelihood circumstances," and remarked, "At times like these, we need people with proven experience and driving force."

Candidate Bang Se-hwan stated, "Over the past four years, we have laid the foundation for citizens' lives through the expansion of transportation, sports, culture and welfare infrastructure," and said, "Now Gwangju must take another leap forward as a self-sufficient city where future industries and cutting-edge technology thrive."

He continued, "Gwangju is a city that has sacrificed due to long-term overlapping regulations in the capital region," and stressed, "Now the city must transform from one bound by regulations to one that creates opportunities. Through AI and semiconductor industries, transportation innovation, and attracting businesses, we will create a Gwangju where young people return," appealing, "Citizens, please unite your strength for Gwangju's development and stable city administration."
