Cheong Wa Dae detected signs of personal information leaks from the presidential delegation's overseas dispatch and convened an emergency response meeting chaired by Chief Secretary to the President Lim Kwang-hyun.
On the 3rd, Chief Spokesperson Kang Yu-jung announced through a written briefing, "Cheong Wa Dae held an 'emergency meeting regarding personal information leak from the presidential delegation' chaired by Chief Secretary Lim Kwang-hyun this morning, and decided to thoroughly investigate the circumstances of the leak and any damages."
At the meeting on that day, Chief Secretary Lim Kwang-hyun pointed out, "The personal information leak from the presidential delegation is a matter directly related to national security and diplomatic trust and cannot be viewed lightly—it is a critical issue." He further strongly instructed related ministries and internal officials to "clarify the exact circumstances of the leak and comprehensively review the presidential dispatch security management system to prevent similar incidents from recurring."
This leak incident has caused repercussions as personal information of government officials assisting summit diplomacy, press personnel, and support staff has been confirmed to be exposed externally. Experts note that given the nature of dispatch information closely tied to security and diplomatic movements, this could pose a significant security threat.
Cheong Wa Dae plans to cooperate with relevant agencies including the National Intelligence Service, Ministry of Science and ICT, and police to swiftly identify leak pathways (such as cyber hacking or internal leaks) and take stern measures against those responsible for management.
