Candidate Lee Sang-il Continues Weekend Campaign Momentum with Support from Rep. Ahn Cheol-soo

[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Choi Ki-ho] Lee Sang-il, People Power Party candidate for Yongin Special Metropolitan City Mayor, campaigned on the 31st, visiting Suji-gu, Cheoin-gu, and Giheung-gu to communicate with Yongin citizens.

On that day, four-term Rep. Ahn Cheol-soo of the People Power Party (Bundang A District) visited Yongin and made a surprise appearance at a café street in Boseong-dong, Giheung-gu, heating up the campaign atmosphere. Rep. Ahn serves as honorary campaign co-chair for Lee's candidacy.

After street campaigning, Rep. Ahn told supporters, "Mayor Lee Sang-il has successfully driven the semiconductor project and other initiatives, bringing significant change and development to Yongin," and emphasized, "It is clear that Lee Sang-il is the person to continue Yongin's leap forward."

Rep. Ahn continued, "If someone unfamiliar with Yongin becomes mayor, all the important work Mayor Lee has been doing will fall apart," and said, "That person will likely waste about 2 years learning and studying city affairs."

Rep. Ahn stated, "That means Yongin will regress by 6 years," and added, "That is why I believe it is appropriate for citizens to give Mayor Lee Sang-il the opportunity to do more work."

Candidate Lee said, "At campaign sites, I have confirmed that there is a groundswell of public sentiment to make Lee Sang-il, who has brought great change and achievement to Yongin through many accomplishments including attracting the national semiconductor industrial complex during the 8th popularly elected administration, Yongin's first re-elected mayor and to advance and complete Yongin's projects."

Lee stated, "The mainstream public sentiment is that Lee Sang-il, who has managed the semiconductor industry well, will develop it further and advance Yongin more," and said, "Our opponents also seem to feel this, and while they are waging harsh negative attacks, they are only revealing their own insignificance. Rep. Ahn Cheol-soo's support is a great strength, and I am grateful."

As evening came, Lee returned to Cheoin-gu and continued street greetings, maintaining field activities centered on communication with Yongin citizens.

Lee said, "I can feel the public sentiment of Yongin City spreading like a lamp from the grassroots, emphasizing that you must choose someone who knows the region," and conveyed, "I will make an all-out effort in the remaining time to draw overwhelming support from Yongin citizens."
