Waterproofing, Artificial Turf, and Window Replacement… Four Aging Schools in Dongducheon and Yangju Get Makeover

The Dongducheon-Yangju Office of Education (Superintendent Kang Jeong-su) has decided to invest 1.74 billion won from the '2027 First Regional Education Issue Special Subsidy' secured from the Ministry of Education into the improvement of aging schools.
The subsidy will be used for facility improvements at four schools in the jurisdiction: waterproofing work on the rooftop of the main building at Goam Middle School, window replacement in the hallway of Deokgye Middle School, construction of an artificial turf athletic field at Sangsu Elementary School, and construction of an artificial turf athletic field at Yangju Baekseok Middle School.
Superintendent Kang Jeong-su stated, "Through securing the special subsidy budget, we will make efforts to provide students with safer and more pleasant educational environments," emphasizing communication between schools and the Office of Education for swift and safe construction work.
The schools targeted for this support have been in operation for a minimum of 25 years to a maximum of 60 years, with outdated educational environments.
The Dongducheon-Yangju Office of Education plans to carefully identify needs for special subsidy projects to create better educational environments and work toward realizing "student-centered education where every student looks forward to coming to school."
